Machine Learning research at the University of Texas is about to get a boost with the award of $1.4 million from the Department of Defense. A proposal to the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) was made by faculty in the Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments. The money provided will support a large new GPU cluster to accelerate research in deep learning, computer vision, robotics, and natural language processing. This new infrastructure will help students and faculty train machine learning systems better and faster than before. Thank you to the Department of Defense and congratulations to the seven principal investigators involved in the proposal: Kristen Grauman, Qixing Huang, Philipp Krahenbuhl, Ray Mooney, Scott Niekum, Peter Stone, Andrea Thomaz.
